We recommend flying into Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) because it's the closest to Como. This airport offers direct flights from New York & New Jersey.

Option 1: Car Service

Option 2: Train from airport

Take the train from MXP to Como Nord Lago. From the train, you can get on the ferry which stops at all the major cities on the lake. Check schedule HERE or download the Trainline app on your phone ahead of time to purchase tickets.

Option 3: Train from Milan City Center

Take the train from Milan to the Como San Giovanni station. From there, you can take a car OR taxi to your accommodations. This is a great option if you are planning on seeing the city of Milan prior to your Lake Como arrival, as the train station is near the popular city center.

Taking the train to Como San Giovanni is quick and about 30 minutes. However, please keep in mind that the Como San Giovanni station is still around an hour from Tremezzo.

Option 4: Bus

You can also take a bus directly from the airport to Como San Giovanni. The average one way ticket from Milan Malpensa (MXP) Airport to Como will cost around €12, and is even a bit cheaper from Linate (LIN) Airport. Book your bus tickets HERE.

There is NO Uber or Lyft in Italy. Taking a taxi on the lake is definitely the quickest option. However, taking the Ferry is one of the most popular ways to see the different towns. See the ferry schedule HERE.
